We first told you that Skydance sold the Chris Pratt sci-fi film The Tomorrow War to Amazon Studios for $200M, and now that deal has closed with the streamer setting a July 2 drop date in 240 countries and territories. Tomorrow War‘s most recent theatrical release date was July 23. At one point before the pandemic, the movie was scheduled to release at Christmas last year.
In The Tomorrow War, written by Zach Dean, the world is stunned when a group of time travelers arrive from the year 2051 to deliver an urgent message: 30 years in the future mankind is losing a global war against a deadly alien species. The only hope for survival is for soldiers and civilians from the present to be transported to the future and join the fight. Among those recruited is high school teacher and family man Dan Forester (Pratt). Determined to save the world for his young daughter, Dan teams up with a brilliant scientist (Yvonne Strahovski) and his estranged father (J.K. Simmons) in a desperate quest to rewrite the fate of the planet.
“The Tomorrow War will be a global event that will surprise and delight our customers around the world,” said Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon Studios. “Director Chris McKay has brilliantly crafted this unique, action-packed sci-fi escape that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats and tug on their heart strings with its father-daughter storyline. We couldn’t be happier to continue our relationship with Chris Pratt—who brings such dynamic star power to the film—along with David Ellison and the Skydance team, as we share this exciting film with fans.”
“I’m so proud of this incredible cast and crew who worked under challenging circumstances to create a unique, original sci-fi action movie… something that’s increasingly rare. Watching this team of actors and artisans effortlessly blend action, horror, comedy, and drama was a dream come true for me … and I hope will thrill audiences this summer,” said director Chris McKay.
“It is fantastic to once again partner with Amazon to release another film from the Skydance canon,” said Skydance CEO David Ellison. “Jen and the marketing team have had great success in making film premieres on the Amazon platform must-see events and with Chris Pratt headlining, everything goes up to another level.”
Many Marvel Studios fans are eager to learn something, anything, about James Gunn ‘s return with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which is supposed to premiere in theaters sometime in 2023. But with Gunn still working on The Suicide Squad and currently filming the spinoff series Peacemaker for HBO Max, some fans are angsty about when the filmmaker will be finished with his DC Comics commitments and hop back over to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Well according to Gunn himself, it doesn’t sound like the wait will be long for his return to his first superhero franchise.
While answering fan questions on social media, as he is wont to do, Gunn confirmed that he will indeed begin filming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 later this year.
A lot of production listings have seemingly revealed the 2021 filming start for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and now Gunn himself has confirmed it. This movie was in the works for years before Gunn was (temporarily) fired from Disney for controversial statements made on his social media accounts, so fans are eager to see what’s next for Marvel’s team of cosmic heroes.
While Gunn initially finished his script long before his firing, it could have gone through some major alterations in the years since. Drax actor Dave Bautista recently said as much during an interview with Entertainment Weekly: “I believe it’s okay to say that we will go into production late next year,” Bautista shared. “I saw a script early on when we were all on schedule and James Gunn was attached before everything went nutso. I believe because [Marvel’s] whole calendar has changed [due to the pandemic shutdown and Guardians’ production delays], that storylines have changed, and they won’t intersect like originally planned. Obviously, we lost Chadwick [Boseman], so I don’t know where that leaves Black Panther. I haven’t seen a new script, is the short answer.”
The production will also get a major update for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 by utilizing StageCraft technology. This is the same pioneering tech created for filming Star Wars: The Mandalorian, which should allow Marvel to push the boundaries of their visual effects. We’ll get to see for ourselves when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 premieres sometime in 2023.
Chris Pratt took to Instagram to reveal that production on Amazon Studios’ upcoming series adaptation of The Terminal List has officially begun. Joining Pratt’s James Reece are Taylor Kitsch, Constance Wu, Jeanne Tripplehorn and Riley Keough, who are portraying the roles of Ben Edwards, Katie Buranek, Lorraine Hartley, and Lauren Reece. In his post which you can check out below, Pratt was able to reflect on his 20-year acting career by expressing how grateful he is for having the opportunity to create new projects through his newly-formed production company, Indivisible Productions.
The Terminal List marks Pratt’s first major TV project as the main lead after six years since starring in the popular sitcom Parks and Recreation. He will next be seen in high-profile films such as: The Tomorrow War, Jurassic World: Dominion, Thor: Love and Thunder, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
First published in 2018, The Terminal List is being described as a conspiracy thriller that will follow the story of Reece, whose entire platoon of Navy SEALs is ambushed during a high-stakes covert mission. As he returns home with conflicting memories of the event and questions about culpability, new evidence comes to light as Reece discovers dark forces working against him.
The Terminal List will be directed by Antoine Fuqua from a script written by David DiGilio. On top of starring in the series, Pratt is also set as an executive producer along with Fuqua, and DiGilio. This marks as the second collaboration between Fuqua and Pratt, who have worked together in the 2016 western action film The Magnificent Seven.
Chris Pratt has been tapped to star opposite Taylor Kitsch in Amazon’s conspiracy-thriller series The Terminal List, based on Jack Carr’s bestselling novel. Pratt also executive produces the series along with Antoine Fuqua, who directs, and writer David DiGilio (Strange Angel). The Terminal List is a co-production from Amazon Studios and Civic Center Media in association with MRC Television.
The Terminal List follows James Reece (Pratt) after his entire platoon of Navy SEALs is ambushed during a high-stakes covert mission. Reece returns home to his family with conflicting memories of the event and questions about his culpability. However, as new evidence comes to light, Reece discovers dark forces working against him, endangering not only his life but the lives of those he loves.
The film “Onward“, which was dubbed by Chris Pratt and Tom Holland, has been nominated for Best Animated Feature Film at the 2021 Golden Globes.
Best Animated Feature Film:
“The Croods: A New Age”
“Over the Moon”
Parks & Recreation is now in Netflix UK (and more regions expected but to be confirmed).
The series will be joining a big collection of NBC comedies on Netflix UK with Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Good Place, Good Girls and The Office currently available on Netflix UK. That’s gone in the opposite direction for Americans with Netflix US having lost both Parks & Recreation and The Office in the past few months.
In case you haven’t seen the show, it follows the Pawnee Parks Department and the public servants that run it. It comes from Greg Daniels and Michael Shur and ran for a total of seven seasons between 2009 and 2015.
We suspect other international regions will also carry Parks & Recreation from February 1st but you’ll need to follow your local social media channels for Netflix to learn of those dates.
Netflix UK confirmed the news on January 6th via a Tweet saying that “Every day is treat yo’ self day in 2021.”
Guardians of the Galaxy will have more screen time in “Thor: Love and Thunder”, so it won’t just be cameo.
The crossover is unsurprising, especially since the last time fans saw Pratt’s charming if somewhat bumbling hero was in the end of 2019’s Avengers: Endgame on board the same spaceship as Hemsworth‘s Thor. On the Thor front, Love And Thunder is the follow up to 2017’s massively successful third installment in the series, titled Thor: Ragnarok. Like that film, the fourth Thor movie will be directed by Taika Waititi.
Notably, Love And Thunder will welcome back Oscar winner Natalie Portman to the franchise, who last played her role of Jane Foster in the less successful second chapter of Thor in 2013, titled Thor: The Dark World. And in the new film, she is said to be taking on the mantle of Thor, thereby becoming the first female actor to do so. Another Academy Award winner set to appear in Love And Thunder is Christian Bale, who is said to be cast in an as-yet undisclosed villainous role.
Thor: Love And Thunder is currently slated for release in February of 2022.
Chris Pratt has become quite the notable actor from his roles in the MCU’s Guardians of the Galaxy franchise (Star-Lord / Peter Quill) to Jurassic World‘s leading man, Owen Grady. Heck, once Universal Orlando opens VelociCoaster this summer, Pratt will be showcased in attractions coast to coast including Disney California Adventure’s Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! Now, rumors of Pratt’s involvement in the Indiana Jones franchise are continuing to grow.
Previously, the rumors of Pratt’s involvement in the fifth installment of Indiana Jones were being constructed to indicate that Pratt’s character would take the torch, or in this case, the hat and whip, from Harrison Ford. Now, it seems the rumor has evolved. For those who were thinking that Chris Pratt would become the leading Indiana Jones character, producer Frank Marshall clarified to Den of Geek, “There will only be one Indiana Jones and that’s Harrison Ford.” But, thanks to Comicbook.com a new rumor claims Pratt may still appear in the next Indiana Jones film.
When we discussed the original rumor, we noted that Chris Pratt has an uncanny semblance to Ford’s younger self, which is the exact direction this report takes. Rumor has it, “Lucasfilm is looking at Pratt to play a younger version of the character. He also claims that Indiana Jones 5 is planning to set up multiple spin-off films as well as a Disney+ series and animated show.” It will be interesting to see Pratt makes a cameo in the upcoming film. However, Lucasfilm has yet to confirm the actor’s involvement in any way. What we do know is that the fifth installment of Indiana Jones will begin filming in the spring of 2021 and is scheduled to be released in July 2022. The original Indy, Harrison Ford, will reprise his role and James Mangold is will be directing, replacing Stephen Spielberg.
A fan video has emerged on YouTube in which, thanks to the deepfake technique, the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ actor ends up becoming the iconic Indy in several sequences from the original ’80s trilogy.
With Season 2 of Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous arriving on Netflix, Jurassic World: Dominion director Colin Trevorrow said the latest film installment will celebrate the entire Jurassic Park franchise.
Trevorrow spoke on the Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom sequel with EW, stating the cast will be a “true ensemble” as previous Jurassic Park stars Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum join current franchise stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. He made sure to mention that the three Jurassic Park veterans’ roles will be just as important as those of Pratt and Howard.
Trevorrow went on to elaborate on how Jurassic World: Dominion will contribute to the iconic film franchise. “To me, [Dominion] is a culmination of one story that’s been told,” Trevorrow said. “When you got to the end of the Jurassic Park trilogy, it may not have been as clear in what the complete story of those three movies was because they were a bit more episodic in the way that they were approached. But this trilogy is not that way. It’s very much a serialized story.”
He specified, “What was important for me was, when you watch Dominion, you really feel like you are learning how much of a story that the first set of movies were and how everything that happened in those movies actually informs what ultimately is able to happen in this. If kids who are born today are going to be presented with six Jurassic Park movies — you hope the parents will buy them the box set — you hope they are going to get to feel like they watch one long story.”
Jurassic World: Dominion wrapped up filming in Nov. 2020. After filming wrapped, Sam Neill took the time to say goodbye to the cast and crew after a long shoot. This was due to the production being delayed multiple times over the COVID-19 pandemic.
Directed by Colin Trevorrow, Jurassic World: Dominion stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, Jake Johnson, Justice Smith, Daniella Pineda, Omar Sy, Isabelle Sermon and B.D. Wong. The film arrives in theaters on June 10, 2022.
